PAINT THE TOWN HULL
To create an exciting campaign for Stagecoach East Midlands to celebrate Hull City of Culture 2017.
We worked with the client to develop an initiative that would see the bus company work with the local community. Stagecoach East Midlands partnered with the Hull School of Art & Design, which resulted in local people coming together to showcase the creative talent in Hull. As part of their coursework, Art students created a design that represented Hull to be displayed on the side of a double decker bus.
The designs were shortlisted and judged by Stagecoach representatives resulting in two winners who had their designs chosen and painted onto the double decker buses.
There were multiple media hits throughout the campaign including the launch, announcing the winners, community involvement and finally, the unveiling of the buses. The story was covered by BBC TV, KCFM and Hull Daily Mail along with their attendance at events.
One of the designs, a handprint bus, actually encouraged even more community involvement as residents of Hull added their handprints at an event by celebrity Kofi Smiles in the city centre. The buses were unveiled later in the year and began operating around Hull, providing a moving showcase for the partnership work.
